Completing one of these applications will not only place you under consideration for University and College of Engineering scholarships, but it will also allow you to be considered for scholarships that are specifically aimed for students in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering. In order to be considered for the following scholarships, you must indicate "Metallurgy" or "Metallurgical Engineering" as your intended major on the application. Citation Corporation Endowed Scholarships. The Citation Corporation of Birmingham, AL, has established a $1 million endowment for undergraduate scholarships. This gift, one of the largest in the history of the College of Engineering, will permanently fund 20 full tuition undergraduate scholarships. Priority consideration is given to entering freshmen enrolled full time in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering. These scholarships are for four years (for entering freshmen) as long as you maintain a 3.0 grade point average. In recent years the awards have varied from $1500 to $4000 per year. E.C. Wright Endowed Scholarships. Established in 1994 from gifts donated from the estate of Louise D. Wright to honor the memory of her husband, Edwin C. Wright. Priority consideration is given to full time students enrolled in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering. Other Financial Assistance. In addition to the above scholarships, many undergraduate students are recruited by the faculty to participate in research projects which provide part time employment during the academic year and sometimes full time employment during the summer. Such valuable experience can be extremely helpful when faced with finding a permanent position after graduation.
