Students work closely with their graduate adviser and supervisory committee to define an appropriate plan of study that meets all degree requirements, including any prerequisite or preparatory work and a specified set of core courses.
The doctor of philosophy degree program in the area of metallurgical engineering is conducted jointly with The University of Alabama at Birmingham. This arrangement permits sharing of facilities, exchange of faculty, joint seminars, and a wide choice of dissertation advisers.
